My First Sunday:
It was the first Sunday after I was admitted to hostel in Purulia. My parents went to visit me. That day
I wailed very hard and still failed to persuade my parents to take me back to my home. I cried so hard that the gateman was
forced to shut the hostel gate twenty minutes before time. However I never cried any further anytime afterwards and stayed
there for seven years and it was quite profitable.
Rabi mama and we:
In our hospital there was a compounder named Rabi Ratan Bhowmick. He was a funny character. His words, attitude
and everything was very funny. The students also liked to play pranks on him. I along with some seniors planned to do something
to him. What we did was that we glued his chair and placed a pin on it. Then we waited for his return. When he returned he felt
the chair through his hand for some reason . Then he discovered our foul play and we were caught & one
among us betrayed and confessed the guilt. However, as these pranks with him were normal, we were released after minor
rebukes by the chief warden.
Letter from a pen-friend:
In class X, once I was reading a letter from my friend's pen-friend who lived in Russia. I was illegally doing
so in the LATE NIGHT STUDY HOUR. Our Superintendent, Swapanda, came and caught me. He took the letter and read it.It was full
of praises about Bollywood movies which that Russian friend liked to watch. More importantly there were praises of actresses
of Bollywood. After reading the letter, Swapanda slapped me five times without a break and I ended up falling on the
ground. Gradually I became his beloved ( I know not how).
Cyber Cafe incident:
This I regard as the most ridiculous incident in my hostel life. In Belur, when I
was in Class XI, our batch suffered a great crisis. Students who went to Cyber Cafe, which was not illegal, were convicted
of breaking the discipline and were to face the Disciplinary Committee and were threatened of suspension. I believe this to
be exactly riduculous thing. I donot find any fault in this. The authority crossed the limits of bigotry and took it to a
ridiculous level. We all protested and now they are about to open a cafe within the campus.(Authority may condemn me for this
as truth stands naked in the statement but I donot care)
