Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith, Purulia:
When I was still a child and was studying in class four I shifted from Kolkata to the named institution. That
was the begining of my long hostel life which was to end after nine long years. Purulia Ramakrishna Mission can be regarded
as an oasis among the desert. It can also be regarded as a miniature India where students from all the corners of the country
come to study. There are even some Bangladeshis too. The instituion has a vast campus which hosts 22 play grounds, 2 basketball
courts and three volleyball courts. Inaddition there is also a gymnasium and TT playing facilities. There are 6 hostels for
the students of class four to twelve. Each hostel has two floors and there is one superintendent in a floor each. Moreover
there are two schools buildings namely VIVEK MANDIR (classes IV - VII) and SARADA MANDIR (classes VIII-XII). There are residential
quarters for almost all the teachers and staffs. Moreover there are Monks quarters known as Pathar Bati. The campus includes
a big temple of Sri Ramakrishna. There is a museum also with a very rich collection. There is a seperate building for the
Library. The campus hosts an auditorium with great sound facilities and a screen for showing movies. There are guest houses
for the guardians and guests, hospital for the sick students. There is a deer park also. Most importantly the campus has
a verdant vastness and there exists an exemplary relationship among teachers, Monks, staffs and students. Teachers are not
to be called 'sir'. The teachers are called 'dada'(brother) by the students. The institution teaches high ideals of friendship,
service to mankind, truthfulness and straightforwardness. In a word the instituion is one of the greatest institutions in India.I
owe much to it for shaping my life. Vidyapith is my home away from home, my second mother.
